Biography

Early in life Verda knew that she wanted to be a teacher.  Her first  teaching
experience was assisting in a Sunday school class of 2nd grade boys when she
was 12 years old.  From there her love for teaching continued to grow and she took
advantage of every opportunity to work with kids.  While living in Southern
California, Verda taught Good News Clubs and led Kid’s Crusades.

Later Roger and Verda moved to Salem, Oregon, where they and their children
were active in ministry at the People’s Church. Verda directed the bus ministry, and
also taught Good News Clubs in their home for 5  years.  She joined the pastoral
staff at People's as Children’s Ministry Director (and children's  coordinator for
"Jesus Northwest") and served in that capacity for 7 years.  In 1998 she began
serving as the National Children’s Ministry Consultant and Junior Bible Quiz
Coordinator for the Assemblies of God.

Verda's education includes a BS in Family Studies and a Masters in Education. She
has written numerous teaching articles and has led teacher training workshops in
various parts of the country,  including INCM’s National Children’s Pastors’
Conferences. She has contributed articles to the Christian Education Counselor,
Enrichment Journal, Radiant Life Curriculum, and Make Your Day Count
magazine.  Verda wrote Step One: A Guide for Teachers (GPH), and was a

Teacher!   She has been an adjunct Instructor at Central Bible College and Oral
Roberts University, and is currently an Instructor for Children's Ministry University
